For nearly 70 years, Lifetouch School Portraits has been a part of family histories across North America. With every quality school portrait, we touch the lives of our customers and help preserve memories. Take a look at our timeline to see how we've grown over the years:
| 1936 |
Bruce Reinecker and Eldon Rothgeb launch National School Studios with $500 startup money. The company introduces its "School Photography of Distinction" to one-room schoolhouses in rural Minnesota. |
| 1948 |
The company introduces the first 5 x 7 enlargements. |
| 1955 |
The company introduces color portraits. |
| 1968 |
The company introduces 8 x 10 enlargements and sales nearly double as a result. |
| 1977 |
Bruce Reinecker transfers 100% of the company ownership to the employees. |
| 1980 |
The company creates the Micro Z camera, which revolutionizes the school portrait industry. |
| 1984 |
National School Studios changes its name to Lifetouch School Portraits.

| 1990s |
Lifetouch incorporates digital technology to further increase speed and efficiency.

| 2004 |
Lifetouch partners with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and schools around the country to unveil a rapid-response system and child safety program called SmileSafe Kids™
