For nearly 70 years, Lifetouch School Portraits has been a part of family histories across North America. With every quality school portrait, we touch the lives of our customers and help preserve memories. Take a look at our timeline to see how we've grown over the years:

1936 Bruce Reinecker and Eldon Rothgeb launch National School Studios with $500 startup money. The company introduces its "School Photography of Distinction" to one-room schoolhouses in rural Minnesota.
1948 The company introduces the first 5 x 7 enlargements.
1955 The company introduces color portraits.
1968 The company introduces 8 x 10 enlargements and sales nearly double as a result.
1977 Bruce Reinecker transfers 100% of the company ownership to the employees.
1980    The company creates the Micro Z camera, which revolutionizes the school portrait industry.
1984 

National School Studios changes its name to Lifetouch School Portraits.

1990s 

Lifetouch incorporates digital technology to further increase speed and efficiency.

2004

Lifetouch partners with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and schools around the country to unveil a rapid-response system and child safety program called SmileSafe Kids™
